Axiobionics LLC | Ann Arbor, Michigan
Axiobionics designs and manufactures wearable functional electrical stimulation (FES/NMES) devices that help people recover movement and independence after stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological conditions — including children with cerebral palsy. Our product line, including the BioSleeve, BioShorts, TripleFlex, WalkAide, and the NeuroPro 8i controller, is built on decades of clinical research and real patient outcomes. We're a small, mission-driven medical device company based in Ann Arbor with stories worth telling — patients regaining movement, clinicians seeing real functional gains, and a company built from decades of hands-on innovation.
We're looking for a Social Media Manager to build and run Axiobionics' social media presence from the ground up. Our current focus is Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and LinkedIn, with other platforms to be pursued as our strategy matures. You'll own everything from platform mechanics and posting cadence to campaign strategy and content creation — this is a role for someone who can both think strategically about audience and growth, and roll up their sleeves to write, design, film, and post the content itself.
You'll be telling the story of a company whose technology changes what's possible for people with stroke, spinal cord injury, and cerebral palsy — to patients and families looking for hope, to clinicians looking for better tools, and to a broader audience who's never heard of us yet.
Strategy & Planning
● Develop and own the social media strategy across Meta (Facebook, Instagram) and LinkedIn, with an eye toward expanding to additional platforms over time
● Define target audiences (patients/caregivers, clinicians, investors, industry) and tailor content and channel strategy to each
● Build and maintain a content calendar aligned with product launches, clinical milestones, company news, and awareness campaigns
● Set goals and KPIs for growth, engagement, and campaign performance, and report on results
Platform Mechanics & Management
● Understand and apply the mechanics, algorithms, and best practices of each platform (organic and paid) to maximize reach and engagement
● Manage day-to-day posting, community engagement, comments, and messages across all active platforms
● Set up, run, and optimize paid social campaigns (Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager)
● Stay current on platform changes, algorithm shifts, and emerging social trends relevant to healthcare/medtech audiences
Content Creation
● Write, design, and produce original content — graphics, short-form video, photography direction, and written copy — tailored to each platform
● Translate clinical outcomes, patient stories, and product features into content that resonates with non-technical and technical audiences alike
● Coordinate with the broader team to source patient stories, clinical updates, and company milestones for content
● Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all social channels
Cross-Functional Collaboration
● Work with marketing, clinical, and leadership to ensure social content is accurate, compliant, and on-strategy
● Coordinate social campaigns alongside broader marketing initiatives (email, web, events, advertising)
● Flag and route patient testimonials, comments, or inquiries appropriately, mindful of healthcare privacy considerations
● Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts and campaigns, ideally including both Meta platforms and LinkedIn
● Strong understanding of platform mechanics, algorithms, and paid advertising tools across Meta and LinkedIn
● Hands-on content creation skills: writing, graphic design, and basic video editing
● Ability to think strategically about audience, growth, and brand positioning — not just post content
● Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences (patients, clinicians, investors)
● Comfortable working independently and owning a function end to end in a small company
● Experience with social media scheduling/analytics tools
● Experience in healthcare, medical device, or another regulated industry
● Experience building a social presence on additional platforms (e.g., YouTube, TikTok, X)
● Video production/editing skills beyond basic short-form content
● Familiarity with HIPAA-related considerations around patient stories and testimonials
● The opportunity to build Axiobionics' social presence from the ground up and see the direct results of your strategy
● A mission-driven company with real, compelling stories to tell
● A small, close-knit team where your contributions are visible and valued
