WCC is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to be considered to assist faculty in the welding laboratory. Needs may become available prior to or during each semester. Upon successful submission of your application and transcripts, you will be considered for future opportunities on a per course basis.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate to student body the following welding/cutting processes: SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, PAC, Oxy-Fuel welding and cutting, soldering and brazing
• Observe, coach and assist students in the completion of homework assignments, lab assignments, and class projects
• Setup and breakdown demonstrations and assist with laboratory activities as assigned by the department’s instructors
• Be able to operate an overhead crane and forklift
• Under the direction of the supervisor, train and oversee support staff
• Assist with inventory procurement and manage the department’s classroom, laboratory and maintenance supplies via scan tool and related software
• Support instructor’s needs by carrying out tasks and requests as assigned by department’s instructors
• Assist with the recruiting of students, may include visiting high schools to promote program, etc.
• Assist with all required classroom/lab assignments, presentations and student handout creation
• Assist with promotional events and competitions
• Understand the department’s course curriculum and objectives and relay info to students when needed
• Maintain lab and classrooms to ensure a safe work environment for students and staff
• Maintain department inventory levels for all associated lab and classroom tools and supplies
• Maintain, troubleshoot and at times repair all laboratory equipment in the event of breakdown
• Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support teaching, learning, student engagement, professional responsibilities, institutional service, and other responsibilities. Use such technologies in a manner consistent with academic standards, professional ethics, confidentiality requirements, and compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

Hours/Schedule:
Hours vary based on class schedules—days, nights and weekends. The terms of employment are based on college enrollment and class enrollment. This position is a Part Time Classified Faculty position with maximum hours per week are twenty (20).

Physical Demands:
• Move about 2/3 of the time and be stationary about 1/3 of the time.
• Lift and move objects of 50 pounds.
• Operate machinery in a welding and manufacturing environment.
• Tolerate frequent exposure to a wide variety of fumes and chemicals which are common to the industry.
• Handle and mix chemicals properly and safely.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Associate’s Degree in Welding and Fabrication or related industry
• Hold current welding certification
• Proficient in the following welding/cutting processes: SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, PAC in ferrous and non-ferrous materials and in all positions as well as Oxy-Fuel welding and cutting, soldering and brazing
• Basic computer skills in MS Excel and Word and capable of using a scanning/printing/fax machine
• Demonstrated ability to send and respond professionally to emails
• Current driver’s license
• Ability to lift and transport 50 pounds repeatedly
• Available mornings, afternoons, nights and weekends and for limited travel
• Ability to communicate both written and verbally in a professional manner
• Capable of reading measuring devices and experience with basic fabrication, which include interpreting shop drawings and blue prints, using heavy fab equipment-press brake, saws, shears, ironworker, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology relevant to the discipline and faculty role, including the capacity to learn and appropriately utilize emerging AI-supported tools. Ability to evaluate the accuracy, reliability, and appropriateness of AI-generated content; maintain confidentiality where required; exercise professional and academic judgment; and uphold ethical standards in the use of technology for teaching, learning, and service.

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
• Welding Instruction or Weld Training experience
OSHA Hi-Lo License
