The successful part time instructor will be expected to provide quality instruction related to all aspects of welding; including but not limited to, manufacturing, fabrication, inspection, testing and safety. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Establish and maintain environment conducive to student learning. • Prepare for and instruct assigned course(s) through the use of appropriate learning experiences and materials • which provide the opportunity to meet overall course objectives and program goals. • Adhere to course syllabus and comply with Assessment of Student Academic Achievement. • Evaluate student progress through day to day evaluation, written examinations and overall observation. • Grade assignments in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, returning graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assigning final grades for all students, meeting or beating all institutional deadlines for completion. • Actively support student success through guidance, advising and assisting individual students as needed. • Participate in professional activities including, but not limited to, curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision and other professional planning activities. • Participate in the Student Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) process. • Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training. • Perform other duties as assigned. Hours/Schedule: Hours vary based on class schedules—days, nights and weekends. The terms of employment are based on college enrollment and class enrollment. Physical Demands: • Move about 2/3 of the time and be stationary about 1/3 of the time. • Lift and move objects of 50 pounds. • Operate machinery in a welding and manufacturing environment. • Tolerate frequent exposure to a wide variety of fumes and chemicals which are common to the industry. • Handle and mix chemicals properly and safely. |
| Minimum Qualifications: | Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Possess a Bachelors’ Degree in Welding Engineering or related field and five years related work experience OR Associates’ Degree in Welding Technology and seven years related work experience. • Proficient in blue print interpretation, reading weld symbols, layout and fabrication, CNC programming and have an understanding of metallurgy for welders. • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in all welding processes, in all positions, on plate and pipe. • Must be able to demonstrate computer skills and the ability to send and respond professionally to emails. • Must be able to demonstrate proficient computer skills, the ability to multi-task and organizational skills. • Must be able to demonstrate organizational skills, a positive management style and the ability to communicate. effectively with students, administration and staff. • Must be able to move about 2/3 of the time and be stationary about 1/3 of the time. • Must be able to lift and move objects of 50 pounds. • Must be able to operate machinery in a welding and manufacturing environment. • Must be able to tolerate frequent exposure to a wide variety of chemicals which are common to the industry. • Must be able to handle and mix chemicals properly and safely. • Must be available to instruct days, nights and weekends. • Must be available year-round for events, college business, etc. • Must have the ability to perform curriculum and assessment work. • Must possess a current AWS Certified Welder (CW) endorsement. • Must possess a current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) endorsement. For 210 Welding Metallurgy Course ONLY: Earned Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally-accredited institution in Welding Technology or related field required. Associates degree in Welding Technology or related field may be considered with a minimum of 7 years full-time work experience. |
| Preferred Qualifications: | Additional Preferred Qualifications: • Prior teaching experience at the college level. • Work experience or formal education specializing in automated welding and/or manufacturing or weld certification testing and inspection. • Proficient in CAD based software systems. • Proficient with Learning Management Systems (LMS). |
