The McFate Group, an award winning and rapidly growing commercial and industrial design-build firm, is seeking an experienced Superintendent to become an integral part of our team. The McFate Group is based in Ann Arbor, MI, and has been servicing customers throughout Michigan and northern Ohio for over 20 years. Successful applicants will have a proven track record as a commercial/industrial construction superintendent dealing with ground up construction, additions, and interior renovations. Experience in the construction of office, retail, restaurants, religious, multi-family, and industrial projects is highly desired. Strong experience in urban ground-up construction is a plus.
Qualifications:
- ground-up construction experience required
- knowledge of all phases of the construction and design processes
- ability to work independently and treat safety as a primary focus
- experience with pre-engineered metal buildings is a plus
- excellent communication (written, verbal, and electronic) skills
- excellent attention to detail with emphasis placed on quality
- self-motivated and driven to see results
- strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- excels in a fast-paced environment and can manage others in such an environment
- strong organizational and planning skills
- capable of managing customer expectations while managing sub-contractors and vendors
- ability to understand contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules
- proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Sage Timberline, and/or similar applications
- ability to adhere to the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism
Responsibilities:
- enforcing all safety and quality standards
- supervising daily jobsite activities and working closely with Project Manager(s) to ensure that work is performed in a safe and organized manner, is in compliance with drawings and specifications, and is executed by the most efficient means
- managing and coordinating the activities of subcontractors and material vendors via planning and scheduling
- developing and maintaining project schedules and reporting problems or deficiencies to the Project Manager
- managing the quality assurance/quality control program for projects
- documenting all on-site activities with reports and photos
- reviewing and managing all construction activities in compliance with project documents including: shop drawings, submittals, and RFI’s
- reviewing change order requests with project team
- collaborating with architects, owner representatives, and local municipalities
- completing punch lists in a timely manner
