Marquee Arts is a Michigan based non-profit organization committed to keeping community inspiration alive through the preservation and programming of historic theaters. Curators of film, theater and live entertainment, we proudly oversee the operations, upkeep, and artistic direction of the Michigan and State theaters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Marquee Arts is the founding entity for Michigan's Cinetopia Film Festival and curator of the Not Just For Kids performance series. Rooted in Michigan's artistic history, the organization is committed to producing state of the art creative programming, unparalleled in diversity, quality and scope.

The Membership and Towsley Society Manager role is responsible for leading the growth, retention, and stewardship of our Membership and Towsley Society donor programs. This dynamic and multifaceted role requires one to be creative and people-centered with a deep understanding of the unique value of cinema and live performance while thriving in building vibrant, engaging relationships with supporters.

With exceptional organizational and communication skills, a deep understanding of donor engagement, and a proactive, strategic mindset, this position plays a pivotal role in creating compelling member experiences that connect the public to our mission while contributing vital revenue to support our programming.

Membership Program

  • Design and manage a robust membership program that supports both cinema and live events.
  • Lead membership growth and retention strategies with clear annual and quarterly goals.
  • Curate meaningful member experiences through benefits, behind-the-scenes access, and exclusive events.
  • Plan, promote, and execute 4 annual membership events, such as member-only screenings, talks, and receptions.
  • Partner with the Marketing and Programming departments to align benefits and promotions with programming.
  • Oversee membership benefit fulfillment, including ticketing perks, digital communications, and member concierge services.
  • Develop all membership materials including brochures, welcome letters, cards, and renewal reminders.
  • Monitor and report on membership metrics, renewals, upgrades, and revenue.

Towsley Society Program

  • Attract and steward high-level donors who are passionate about preserving our iconic historic theater.
  • Lead efforts to identify and cultivate new Towsley Society prospects.
  • Plan and manage 2-4 exclusive Towsley Society events annually.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Towsley Society members, ensuring personalized communication and stewardship.
  • Support the Director of Philanthropy on donor pipelines, prospect strategy, and major gift solicitations.

Strategy & Collaboration

  • Develop creative approaches to regularly engage members and donors across all touchpoints.
  • Maintain accurate records of all member and donor interactions in DonorPerfect.
  • Collaborate with marketing to assign value to programs and ensure messaging consistency.
  • Foster a culture of member appreciation that is organization wide.

Additional Duties

  • Attend weekly Membership and Development meetings and other cross-departmental check-ins.
  • Represent Marquee Arts at events, including but not limited to Membership and Towsley Society gatherings, screenings, concerts, book signings, and partner functions.
  • Support the organization’s fundraising goals and serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for the mission.

Work Environment: The work is primarily indoors within a theater building(s) and may have some exposure to fumes, odor, dust, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This role requires walking and standing for extended periods of time. This role also regularly requires reaching, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing stairs. Extended computer use is required. The employee will regularly lift, push, pull and/or move items that weigh up to 25 pounds.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in membership, development, or donor relations.
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing donor/member programs with measurable success.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent project management, organization, and time-management abilities.
  • Experience working with CRM systems (DonorPerfect preferred).
  • High level of initiative, energy, and attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Knowledge of or passion for arts, film, history, and storytelling.
  • Familiarity with live event environments and donor stewardship best practices.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The salary range is $50,000 to $60,000 annually.
