Summary

Solartonic is an innovative, solar lighting products company based in Ypsilanti, Michigan. We seek to hire an assembly technician at our Ypsilanti, Michigan R&D/assembly facility. You will be responsible for the assembly of various solar street lighting and/or solar sign components. Prior experience working with your hands and putting together small to large-scale parts with speed and dexterity will ensure your success in this fast-paced environment. This is a temporary full-time opportunity (30+ hours) that could turn into a permanent opportunity for the right person.

Job Description

  • Prepares and assembles various components and assemblies

  • Utilizes hand tools and shop equipment

  • Visually inspects parts and components for proper insertion and placement

  • Follows detailed written or verbal instructions, including visual aids

  • Monitors and re-stocks parts bins as required

  • Ensures that assembly and warehouse area is clean and organized

  • Assists with testing and quality assurance procedures for components and final product assemblies

  • Assists with packaging of final assembled product, and warehousing/preparation for shipments

  • Adheres to safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor

Job Requirements and Qualifications

High school diploma required; Associates Degree or Technical Certificate preferred; Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; Must pass a Pre-Employment drug test and background check; Must be local (Southeast Michigan); no re-location offered at this time.

Must possess the following attributes and skill-sets:

  • Good hand/eye coordination and use of hands and fingers for fine detail accuracy

  • Fabrication workshop or skilled crafts experience preferred, including ability to safely and competently work with hand tools (hand drill, screwdriver, mallet, soldering gun, etc.), mechanical or electrical assemblies, and shop equipment (e.g., drill press, miter saw, metal press, etc.)

  • Ability to follow established procedures, as well as identify and suggest process improvements if needed

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Basic computer experience required (e.g., Microsoft, Google)

  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.

  • A great work ethic with high integrity and honesty, and a willingness to listen and learn

  • Knowledge of LED lighting and/or solar photovoltaic systems is preferred but not essential
