This job involves the management and coordination of people and instrumentation to keep preparation and analytical work smoothly flowing through the defined lab area while meeting all quality and safety requirements.
- BS/BA in a directly related science field or an equivalent combination of experience and coursework.
- 5 years plus of laboratory experience plus a minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory or management experience
- Demonstrated management or supervisory skills in a laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of standard lab procedures and instrumentation.
- Able to work well in a production team environment with strong organizational skills.
- Consistent attention to detail and verbal/written communication skills.
- Computer skills with laboratory LIMS and instrumentation software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated method development and/or troubleshooting skills.
- Detailed instrumentation knowledge for work in area.
- Specific method knowledge.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to handle both desk and laboratory work environments.
- Train, develop, motivate, and evaluate a competent workforce in cooperation with the management team.
- Overall responsibility to ensure that production targets and turnaround time goals are met.
- Ensure that the team meets safety, quality, and cost control objectives.
- Coordinate resources between groups.
- Provide technical oversight and help with troubleshooting/problem resolution as appropriate.
- Ensure that equipment and instruments are appropriately maintained, and that lab documentation is well organized and up to date.
- Budgetary Responsibility for group.
- Oversee communications with other shifts.
- Perform other duties as requested.
