As an Engineer I in the Mechanical Plumbing Lab, you will be responsible for conducting a wide variety of testing on plumbing products to industry standards. In addition, you’ll be the technical representative for SOP creation, report writing, and assist in all internal/external audits while having a firm understanding of all testing within the Mechanical Plumbing Lab. This role actively contributes to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline testing, improve quality, and enhance safety.

Responsibilities

Perform high level laboratory testing with minimal supervision
Thorough understanding of data analysis and software
Possess strong mechanical / electrical aptitude
Maintain/organize assigned workload to meet specific due dates
Prepare and record all data per ISO 17025 requirements
Create, review and update SOPs as necessary
Monitor and maintain assigned lab equipment for calibrations and other lab needs
Give and receive continuous trainings
Crosstrain in other lab areas to alleviate the workload when high sample volumes are experienced.
Maintain a clean work environment and 6s areas
Assure adherence to all safety/health policies and procedures
Be a Technical Representative for all areas in Mechanical Plumbing
Respond to internal/external client inquiries
Research, create, and develop sampling, templates, and testing requirements for specific standards
Assist with sample review
Assist with internal/external audits
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
Ability to read, interpret and follow standards, SOP’s and test methods
Good verbal and written communication skills
Highly motivated in completing assignments correctly and on schedule
Great attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a high paced environment.
Proficient in the use of PC/Windows software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with plumbing fixtures, piping, and pumps.
Proficient with laboratory instruments / equipment (DAQ systems, life-cycle fixtures, pressure testers, flow meters, etc.)
Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in an Engineering discipline
5+ years Laboratory experience utilizing test standards, methods and data analysis software
Proficient with laboratory QA/QC programs
Experience with internal/external audits
Exposure to process improvement practices.
