At MONSTR Sense Technologies we are developing advanced ultrafast imaging and spectroscopy tools to solve hard problems in fundamental research and the semiconductor industry. We are a team of scientists and engineers who simplify the hard parts of optical measurements so our customers can achieve great results without great effort. We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician to support the assembly, testing, and documentation of advanced optical instrumentation. This role involves building precision hardware, working closely with engineers, and contributing directly to prototype and production systems.

Objective

You will support the build, integration, testing, and documentation of our hardware products. This includes following assembly instructions and CAD drawings, assisting with prototype builds, supporting rapid prototyping activities, including operation of additive manufacturing and light fabrication equipment, maintaining organized workspaces and inventory, and helping improve build documentation and processes as products mature into production.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree, or equivalent hands-on experience in engineering technology, manufacturing, or a related technical field.

• Experience: 2+ years of experience in assembly, manufacturing, or prototype development environments.

• Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly documentation, and bills of materials. Experience using common hand tools and measurement tools, and basic electronics assembly techniques.

Preferred Skills

• Experience assembling precision mechanical or optical systems.

• Familiarity with lasers, microscopes, optics, or scientific instrumentation.

• Experience with SolidWorks for light CAD modelling and drafting updates.

• Experience operating filament-based 3D printers for rapid prototyping.

• Experience updating assembly instructions or technical documentation.

• Experience with cable routing, electronics integration, or basic soldering.

• Experience with inventory management.

• Familiarity with hobby or light-duty CNC equipment.

• Experience with prototype fabrication and part finishing.

• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and system integration issues.

• Ability to function both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

• Flexibility in a startup and growth environment.

Job Type: Full-time; In person

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Location: 3830 Packard St., Ste. 100, Ann Arbor, MI 48108. Reliably commute or willing to relocate (Required)

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
