Job Summary Under the general direction of the Fiscal Manager, the Staff Accountant performs a broad range of professional accounting and fiscal management duties in support of the organization's programs. This position requires critical thinking skills and sound independent judgment within the parameters of professional accounting standards, organizational policies, and applicable grant rules and regulations. The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local grant regulations, and producing timely reports and other output required by grantors, auditors, and internal stakeholders. The position collaborates closely with colleagues while exercising the independent professional judgment expected of a senior accounting role. The position will have a primary focus in one or more designated areas (e.g., Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll) and will also provide backup and support for other accounting functions across the department, including audit preparation, account reconciliations, and general ledger management.
