CARGILITY
Mechanical Engineering Intern (Part Time, Hybrid | May to August)
Be part of our team working directly on the solution.
If you like building, refining, and bringing real products to life and want your work to directly improve people’s independence, this role is designed for you.
Cargility is an Ann Arbor based startup developing mobility solutions that improve safety, independence, and accessibility for individuals with stability challenges and the caregivers who support them. We are preparing to launch a patented mechanical product and are looking for a hands on mechanical engineering intern to help us get there.
You will be part of a small, focused team pushing a biomedical engineering product to market. This role centers on engineering validation, manufacturing readiness, and the technical documentation required to move from prototype to production. You will take ownership of detailed engineering work and contribute directly to launch readiness.
You will support durability and load testing with third party partners and own the documentation and analysis of performance data. You will review and refine CAD models and assemblies in SolidWorks with attention to mechanisms, tolerances, and materials. You will help produce production ready drawings, organize and develop the bill of materials, and ensure engineering documentation is complete and usable for manufacturing and supplier partners.
We are looking for a current senior undergraduate or graduate student in mechanical engineering or a related field. Biomedical engineering and manufacturing experience is a plus. You should be confident in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools, understand mechanical systems, and be comfortable working with drawings, tolerances, and materials. Experience with testing and validation is preferred. This role requires someone who is detail oriented, self directed, and comfortable operating in a fast moving, hybrid startup environment.
This is an opportunity to work on a product that is going to market this year. You will gain direct experience across validation, design refinement, and manufacturing preparation, and see how engineering decisions translate into real world impact.
Hybrid in Ann Arbor, Parttime 10-15 hours weekly with flexibility to work when available and signed NDA is required for this role. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Interviews will be done virtually.
