Ann Arbor SPARK seeks an intern who is analytical and produces accurate work to assist in daily operations of a complex not-for-profit organization. Excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and to learn about not-for-profit business practices in an organization that receives funding from a variety of sources: private donors, corporations, foundations and government (local/state/federal).
Accounting tasks will be assigned in the following areas:
- Assist with general accounting and basic bookkeeping, including filing and entry level processing.
- Maintaining accounts payable files and assist with accounts payable.
- Grant reporting, including creating documents to ensure that all grant requirements are followed for the duration of the grant, expense accounting for grant budgets and written reporting on the use of the grant.
- Perform basic invoices and assist with accounts receivable and revenue reports.
- Assist with budgets and financial reports.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have an interest in Accounting or Finance and be motivated to learn how a high-functioning accounting department works.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with a range of computer programs, including the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc).
- Knowledge of QuickBooks preferred, not required.
- Although remote work is possible on occasion, candidate must be able to work in-office on a full-time basis to operate effectively as part of the team.
Details and Compensation:
- The internship duration is flexible based on the needs of the organization and availability of the candidate. The intern will be expected to engage in the internship 20 hours per week during regular business hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
- This is paid internship ($20/hour) and located at Ann Arbor SPARK Headquarters (330 E Liberty St, Ann Arbor, MI).
